Spring is Just Around the Corner!!

It's just about time to take out the spring clothes and put away the heavy sweaters and boots!!  We are in the last nine weeks of the year.  The students are excited for Spring Break coming up.  I've told them that we still have work to do before their break to get ready for second grade.  Play time begins in a couple of weeks.

If anyone is interested in doing a science fair project with their student, let me know.  I can send home some ideas and information!  All first grade classes will be doing at least one project.  Science is exciting for the students and a great way to get them motivated for something other than video games and television!!

We are learning about community helpers in social studies and still working on animals in science.  Also, problem solving strategies has become our focus in math.

Here are the words for this week:
Spelling-child, wild, mild, mind, find, kind, day, play, son, sure
Vocabulary-both, during, ready, sleep, spring, winter
Look for homework assignments on our weekly newsletter.
